Brake Services for Your European Automobile
With all of the new-fangled safety systems on vehicles today, it can be hard to keep the brake system in the forefront of your mind. Your brake system is one of the most important safety systems on your European automobile. SimplyEuro Automotive Repair can keep your brake system safe and reliable. Here is a list of brake services that we do every day on European makes and models.
Brake Inspection
People drive about 12,000 miles a year on average, which is why it is recommended that you have your brakes inspected every 12,000 miles. If you haven’t driven your car 12,000 miles in one year, get the brakes inspected anyway. This ensures all of the parts are in proper and safe working order.
Brake Pad Replacement
Your brake pads are made up of two primary parts. First, there is a steel backing. Second, friction-inducing material that makes up the brake pads’ surfaces. Without brake pads, your car cannot produce friction and stop. The pads should be changed every 30,000 miles or sooner if they have worn down to 1/4-inch.
Brake Fluid Flush and Refill
The brake fluid also helps stop your automobile. When you step on the brake pedal, the fluid pushes up against the calipers. This, in turn, forces the calipers against the brake pads. Brake fluid should be changed anywhere from 20,000 miles to 45,000 miles, or every two years.
Brake Rotor Resurface
Once the calipers are pressed against the brake pads, this pushes the brake pads against the rotors and, voila, your car slows down and stops. Over time, the brake rotors are warped by the constant friction needed between them in the brake pads. They should be resurfaced on average every 60,000 miles.
Brake Caliper Replacement
The brake calipers can go a little longer. They usually lose their effectiveness by 75,000 miles, although they have been known to last much longer. If you don’t drive your car often, you may go as long as seven years and still not hit 75,000 miles. The brake calipers need to be replaced anyway.
Brake Master Cylinder Replacement
Your brake master cylinder is where everything starts, and it, too, lasts about 75,000 miles on average. It can last longer than that, up to 110,000 miles, and if you have that kind of mileage on your European automobile, have us take a look at your master cylinder to make sure it’s okay.
Brake hoses should also be replaced when they are cracked and worn. We’ve got you covered here at SimplyEuro Automotive Repair in Castle Pines, CO. Call us today to schedule brake services.
